Sun Home sauna models compared (2026): Solstice vs Equinox vs Pod vs Eclipse vs Luminar

Sun Home sells five sauna lines spanning $4,999 to $13,899, and the naming does not make the differences obvious. This guide sorts out what actually separates them.

Far-infrared vs full-spectrum — what you are paying for

This is the main technical fork in the range, so it is worth understanding rather than guessing.

Far-infrared heats your body directly at longer wavelengths, which is what produces the deep, sustained warmth people associate with infrared saunas. It is the well-established approach and it is what the Solstice and Pod use.

Full-spectrum adds near- and mid-infrared, on the Equinox via halogen near-infrared heaters alongside carbon far-infrared. Shorter wavelengths are claimed to penetrate differently and are marketed for skin and cellular benefits.

The honest position: the evidence base for far-infrared heat therapy is the stronger one, and most sauna research — traditional or infrared — is limited in size and quality. Full-spectrum is a reasonable feature to want, and it is not clearly the thing that determines whether you benefit. If budget is tight, far-infrared is not a compromised choice.

Red light is a separate question

Red light therapy is not sauna heat, and Sun Home treats them as distinct features — sensibly.

The Eclipse has the most substantial implementation: dual 900W panels at 650nm and 850nm, factory-integrated. The Pod includes red and near-infrared light in a compact 1-person cabin, making it the cheapest route to both in one purchase. On the Luminar it is an add-on.

If you want red light, buying it integrated is tidier than a separate panel. If you are unsure whether you want it, a standalone panel is far cheaper than the model jump, and you can put it wherever you like.

The electrical requirement is the real gotcha

Read this before you compare anything else, because it can change the total cost more than the model choice does.

Runs on a standard dedicated 120V/20A circuit: Solstice 1-person, Equinox, Pod.

Needs 240V: Solstice 4-person, both Luminars.

Needs 30A: Eclipse — 120V/30A locking for the 2-person, 240V/30A for the 4-person.

If you do not already have the right circuit, you are hiring an electrician. Depending on your panel capacity and the run to the room, that can cost several hundred to a few thousand dollars — comfortably more than the gap between two models, and many times the value of any discount code.

Check your panel before you choose a model. A cheaper sauna that works with your existing supply may cost less installed than a more expensive one that needs a new 240V run.

Which one to buy

Best value: Equinox — from $6,099

Full-spectrum heat, 165°F, kiln-dried eucalyptus, on a standard 120V/20A circuit. You are not paying for red light or app control, and you are not stepping up to a 30A or 240V supply.

Cheapest entry: Solstice 1-person — $4,999

Far-infrared, panel controls, no app. The least expensive way in.

Worth noting the EMF figure Sun Home publishes for the Solstice line: 0.6–4.0 mG at one foot across 120V and 230V configurations. That upper end is higher than the very low figures some competitors advertise. For context, infrared sauna EMF is generally well below international safety limits and comparable to common household appliances, and WHO and ICNIRP reviews have not confirmed harm at these levels — so treat low-EMF design as a reasonable preference rather than a safety requirement.

Most compact with red light: Pod — $6,599

1-person only, Canadian hemlock, 11 far-infrared heaters in four zones, with red and near-infrared standard. App-enabled.

The pick for a small room where you want heat and red light without an Eclipse’s footprint or price.

Best features: Eclipse — from $9,999

Canadian red cedar, full-spectrum, the strongest red-light implementation in the range, app control with guided breathwork, and the best warranty terms — limited lifetime up to 7 years on cabinetry and heaters, plus 90-day full coverage including labor and shipping.

Expensive, and needs a 30A circuit. Buy it if you want the complete feature set and cedar.

Only outdoor option: Luminar — from $10,999

Aluminum exterior, stainless steel roof, red cedar interior, protective cover, 170°F, and a 3-year exterior warranty on top of the standard terms. Needs 240V.

If your space is a patio or garden rather than a spare room, this is the only model in the range that belongs there. Do not put an indoor cabin outside — it will not be covered.

Warranty, briefly

The Solstice and Equinox carry 7 years on cabinetry and heaters, 3 years on controls, 1 year on audio and glass.

The Pod, Eclipse and Luminar carry limited lifetime (up to 7 years) on cabinetry and heaters, plus a 90-day full-coverage period including labor and shipping — which is the genuinely useful part, since labor and freight are what make a warranty claim on an object this size painful.

Before you buy any of them

Try the habit first. If you have never done consistent heat therapy, a sauna blanket costs a few hundred dollars and answers the only question that matters: will you actually use it? Sauna blankets have a high abandonment rate, and cabins are a far more expensive way to learn the same lesson.

Measure the route, not just the room. Doorways, stair turns, and landings.

Read the return terms. Returning a sauna is a different proposition from returning a parcel.

Be realistic about the benefits. Heat raises core temperature, which relaxes muscles, eases stiffness, improves peripheral circulation, and enforces stillness — genuinely useful for sleep and stress. Sweat is not a detox pathway; that is thermoregulation, and your liver and kidneys do clearance. Weight lost is water. Nobody should be selling you a sauna on detox or fat loss.

Heat exposure is not appropriate for everyone. If you are pregnant, have cardiovascular conditions or low blood pressure, or take medication affecting heat regulation or hydration, speak to a doctor before starting.

The summary

Equinox for most people. Solstice if budget leads. Pod for a small room with red light. Eclipse for the full feature set. Luminar if it is going outside.
